Thirty-five drones from Ukraine were fired against Russia, leading Moscow to be targeted, an oil refinery to briefly catch fire, and power disruptions in border towns. Moscow has threatened to punish Ukraine for the attacks and has accused Kyiv of sabotaging the elections.
During his nightly video address on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude to his military troops and intelligence for their new “long-range capabilities”; nevertheless, he made no mention of the alleged intensification of his country’s forces’ attacks.
Russia-Ukraine War
Seventeen drones were destroyed over the Krasnodar region in southern Russia, four over the Moscow region, and the remaining drones over six other locations, according to the Russian defense ministry.
At the Krasnodar refinery in Sloviansk, the fire was put out and no one was hurt. No injuries or damage was recorded as a result of the drones being shot down over three neighborhoods close to Moscow, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
There have been no reports of damage or casualties following the destruction of four drones over the Yaroslavl region, north of Moscow. One village’s gas and power connections were damaged in the Belgorod border region by an attack by four drones launched from Ukraine.
