For much of England and Wales, the Met Office anticipates cloudy and patchy rain on Sunday. After the Easter weekend, there could be up to 15mm of more continuous, possibly thunderous rain. There are 96 flood alerts and two flood warnings in effect for the whole of England.

There will be 2.01 million leisure car trips on Monday, according to estimates from the RAC and the transport monitoring firm Inrix. The longest delays are anticipated between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.

Heavy rain

On Easter Sunday, a band of cloud in the North Sea will move westward toward Wales and into South East England, bringing gloomy skies and sporadic showers to the southern part of the country.

Easter Monday is predicted to see more periods of intense rain moving northward. On Monday, a corridor extending from South West England up to East Anglia is expected to have the most intense rain.

Jo Wheeler, the weather anchor for Sky News, said Monday will be primarily dry in the north with the best of the sun in the northwest. Although there are no weather alerts in effect, the Met Office has stated that showers may produce anywhere from 5 to 15 mm of rain.

It is anticipated that Scotland and Northern Ireland will continue to have brighter spells with sporadic, erratic showers on both days.
