Following the cancellation of its quarterfinal match against Malaysia women on Thursday due to rain, the Indian women’s team advanced to the Asian Games 2023 semifinals.

Due to their higher tournament seeding, India progressed to the semifinals. The higher-seeded India began its campaign on Thursday as Malaysia faced off against Hong Kong in the opening round.

Women’s Cricket

Malaysia is now rated 27th in the ICC women’s T20I rankings, whereas India is currently ranked fourth.

Just two deliveries might have been delivered in Malaysia’s run chase before the rain stopped play for the second time that day. To win the match, Malaysia has to score 177 runs.

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Varma, who started the game, got off to a strong start, scoring at a rate of about 10 runs per over. Shafali took advantage of a break and scored 67 runs in 39 balls. Jemimah Rodrigues, who finished the innings unbeaten on 47, assisted her.

India’s final pyrotechnics came from Richa Ghosh, who made sure the team finished its allotted 15 overs at 173 for the cost of two wickets.
