South Korea Introduces e-Arrival Card for Travelers

  • South Korea will implement an e-Arrival Card from February 24, 2025.
  • The system replaces paper forms, streamlining immigration procedures.
  • It must be submitted online at least three days before arrival.

South Korea is set to digitize its immigration process with the introduction of the e-Arrival Card, eliminating the need for traditional paper-based entry forms.

The e-Arrival Card will be mandatory for most foreign visitors, except for registered residents, K-ETA holders, and airline crew members. The transition phase allows both digital and paper forms until the end of 2025, with full implementation from January 2026.

South Korea to Digitize Entry Process with e-Arrival Card

The e-Arrival Card is designed to improve border control efficiency while reducing processing times at immigration checkpoints. By automating data collection, South Korea aims to enhance security measures and optimize the visitor experience.

Applicants need to enter essential travel information, including their passport details, accommodation, and contact information, via the official portal. The process is free, and the digital card remains valid for 72 hours after issuance.

Group applications are permitted, allowing up to ten travelers to be registered under one submission. This feature benefits families and tour groups, simplifying the documentation process upon arrival.

If a traveler’s plans change after submitting the e-Arrival Card, modifications can be made online before arrival, ensuring flexibility in travel arrangements.

The e-Arrival Card marks a significant step toward modernizing South Korea’s immigration procedures, enhancing convenience for international travelers while improving overall efficiency.
