Today, October 20, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to unveil NaMo Bharat, India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), at approximately 11:15 a.m.

On October 21, however, passengers will be able to use the priority section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS. It is noteworthy that on March 8, 2019, PM Modi placed the project’s foundation stone.

NaMo Bharat

To increase urban mobility in the area, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) created the high-speed, high-frequency NaMo Bharat transit system.

Between Delhi and Meerut, there will be 24 stations throughout the 82 km-long route. Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, and Duhai Depot are the five stations that make up the 17 km long priority segment.

The cost of a NaMo Bharat ticket varies based on the coach class—standard or premium. There would be a maximum charge of Rs 50 for the full journey from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot, with standard class fares ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 50. The fare for the premium class will be between Rs 40 and Rs 100.

Ticket vending machines (TVMs), paper tickets with QR codes, digital tickets with QR codes, and the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) Card are just a few of the ticketing alternatives that NaMo Bharat will provide. Children under the height of 90 cm can travel for free.

NaMo Bharat trains have a top speed of 180 kmph, but they will typically run at an average of 100 kmph, with a permitted speed of about 160 kmph.

There would be 1700 seats available on each air-conditioned NaMo Bharat train set, including standing room only. Six coaches with a 2×2 seat configuration will be available: one luxury coach and five standard coaches. Women will have exclusive use of one of the regular coaches.
