China’s Zhejiang aims to build a metaverse industry by 2025

Zhejiang, a coastal province of China, has launched a metaverse development plan that aims to build a metaverse space in its territory. The plan seeks to increase the productivity of the metaverse industry by $ 28.7 billion and build an ecosystem in which many companies integrate this technology as part of their work by 2025.

Zhenjiang, a Chinese province, unveiled its metaverse development plan on December 15, aiming to become one of the largest metaverse parks in the country. The plan, which oversees the integration of many companies working on Metaverse, aims to create a $28.7 billion Metaverse company by 2025.

Zhejiang’s metaverse development plan

In the document, the region outlined the actions it would need to achieve its goals, starting in 2023. One of them includes the incubation of 10 companies and 50 companies involved in many important technologies related to the metaverse, such as AI (intelligence), VR (reality), and even blockchain.

These technologies will be applied in many ways;

  • To bring companies dedicated to product development, industrial design, medicine, and even government into this emerging metaverse.
  • This paper presents plans that have been developed and demonstrated by other Chinese local governments that are also interested in the metaverse as part of development.
  • In June, Shanghai revealed its path to a $52 million metaverse cluster.

However, the government has criticized the euphoria that is emerging about the investment related to the model. The state’s Economic Daily published an article on November 2. 10 which warns about this, saying that “the metaverse industry looks promising, but it may not be suitable for all regions. Be careful to go too fast n ‘power and gambling with it when you are away from the truth.
