Diabetes prevention is linked to when to exercise and how to control blood sugar

The timing of meals and exercise can be altered, according to University of Bath researchers, and this can dramatically enhance blood sugar control.

30 overweight or obese men participated in the trial, which was written up in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, and two intervention groups were compared.

The findings showed that compared to exercising after breakfast, exercising before breakfast doubled the amount of fat burned.

Although this modification in exercise schedule did not result in weight loss, it had a significant effect on general health. Due to lower insulin levels, individuals were able to use more fat during exercise in the morning fasting state by using both stored fat and muscle fat as fuel.

Better insulin sensitivity resulted as a result, effectively regulating blood sugar levels and possibly lowering the risk of diabetes and heart disease.

According to the World Health Organization, 77 million Indian adults over the age of 18 have type 2 diabetes, and almost 25 million are prediabetic.

The University of Bath’s Professor Javier Gonzalez expressed enthusiasm about the study’s implications and claimed that altering the timing of eating and exercising can result in significant and advantageous improvements to general health.
