Massive Landslide in Papua New Guinea Kills Nearly 100 People

Around 100 individuals were dreaded dead after a tremendous avalanche battered a far-off town in Papua New Guinea, the media detailed.

The episode happened around 3:00 a.m. neighborhood time in Kaokalam Town in Enga Territory, situated north of 600 km northwest of Port Moresby, Xinhua news organization announced citing ABC.

Landslide in Papua New Guinea

A gigantic avalanche is dreaded to have killed numerous after it struck six far-off towns in Papua New Guinea, nearby authorities and help organizations said.

The avalanche covered more than 100 homes after it struck at around 03:00 neighborhood time Friday (17:00 GMT Thursday) in the good countries of Enga, north of the island country in the southwest Pacific.

It was not quickly clear the number of individuals that were caught in the rubble and no setbacks have been formally affirmed.

Individuals can be heard crying and hollering in a video posted by Facebook client Kindupan Kambii from Kaokalam town in Enga.

He added that a crisis reaction group comprised of authorities from the common lead representative’s office, police, safeguard powers, and neighborhood NGOs has conveyed to the site.

Global Helpful Association CARE told the BBC it is “right now going through a circumstance evaluation” on the occurrence.

Enga is more than 600km by street from the nation’s capital, Port Moresby.
