Political activist slams Canadian PM after O’Canada’s controversial Punjabi interpretation at NHL game

Ezra Levant, born February 20, 1972, is a Canadian media conservative, political activist, and former lawyer from Calgary, Alberta. The 51-year-old political activist rose to prominence in 2006 after publishing cartoons of Jillands Muhammad in his conservative magazine The Western magazine.

Levant is the alma mater of the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta. He was also the founder of the conservative magazine The Western Magazine. Also, Ezra Levant serves as the founder and CEO of the far-right media website Rebel News.

“O’ Canada” was sung in Punjabi

The Jets celebrated South Asian Historical Night time at home on the Canada lifestyles Centre.To mark the celebration, the Canadian national anthem “O’ Canada” was sung in Punjabi.

The group performing O’Canada’s composition in Punjabi included school children from Amber Trails Kindergarten, the first school in Manitoba to offer a bilingual English-Punjabi program.

While fans at the Canada Life Center applauded the students, Ezra Levant was displeased with the singing of the Canadian national anthem in Punjabi.

Taking to X, earlier on Twitter, the political activist slandered Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government, while labeling the girls singing the anthem as “over-patriotic”:

The NHL is very popular among Punjabi-speaking Canadians and Hockey Night in Canada features play-by-play commentary and analysis in Punjabi.

According to Statistics Canada data, Punjabi is the fourth most spoken language in Canada, with more than 500,000 people using it as their primary language.
