Near Kodiyakkarai, a fishing boat from Sri Lanka was detained

  • A Sri Lankan fishing boat that was discovered a few meters from the Kodiyakkarai coast.

A Sri Lankan fiberglass fishing boat that was discovered capsized a few meters from the Kodiyakkarai coast in the Nagapattinam district was confiscated by the Vedaranyam Marine Police of the Coastal Security Group on Friday, September 22.

A Marine Police team from Vedaranyam commanded by Inspector Jothi Muthuramalingam grabbed the boat and hauled it to the shore after receiving a warning from the locals.

According to police sources, the boat’s remaining three-fourths were discovered in the water about 200 meters off the Kodiyakkarai coast, close to Manal Voykkal.

According to police sources, the fiberglass boat’s registration number OFRP-A-0454-KCH suggested that it might be the property of some fisherman on Sri Lanka’s northern shore. They believe that after losing its anchor, the engineless boat may have drifted in the direction of the Indian shore.

According to additional police sources, a case has been opened at the Vedaranyam Marine Police Station, and the impounded boat will be given to representatives of the Revenue Department.
