Oracle Keeps Cutting Jobs and Fires Hundreds of Employees

Recession concerns are causing severe cost-cutting and employment losses at tech enterprises around the world.

A new round of layoffs at the multinational computing company Oracle will hit its health division. The layoffs come after Oracle’s $28.3 billion purchase of Cerner in December 2021.

Fires Hundreds of Employees

Contracts to maintain and enhance the electronic systems used to store and manage patient health information were secured by the Cerner division from the US Department of Veterans Affairs Office. However, after numerous patients were harmed by Cerner software errors, the collaboration was terminated.

Oracle will provide four weeks’ worth of severance compensation, plus an additional week for each year of employment, along with a payout of vacation days. Unknown factors include the precise number of affected employees and whether or not workers in India would be impacted.

  • Oracle to implement health division layoffs following Cerner acquisition.
  • Cerner division terminates the contract after software errors harm patients.
  • Kathy Schoening expresses sympathy for Cerner/Oracle health coworkers’ skills.

Former Cerner employees and individuals from the health-tech community have supported the impacted employees on LinkedIn.

Former VP of professional services at Cerner Kathy Schoening expressed sympathy for her former Cerner/Oracle health coworkers and faith in their skills.

Eight-month Oracle employee Vivian Ramos revealed her untimely departure from the firm and expressed her sorrow. Oracle already stopped giving raises and promotions to nearly 3,000 workers.
