The 13 drones that Russia used to strike the southern areas of Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk throughout the night have all been shot down by the Ukrainian air force.
One of the attacks was directed for the Odesa region’s energy infrastructure, but it was thwarted by air defenses. Authorities in the region reportedly reported explosions during an attack in Kharkiv, an east Ukrainian city that is frequently attacked by Russia.
Russia-Ukraine War
In an effort to disrupt Ukraine’s power and energy network, Russia has increased its attacks on the country’s grid infrastructure in recent weeks. Although there is ongoing fighting in the area, the Ukrainian military denied that Russian soldiers had penetrated the outskirts of Chasiv Yar, a town in the country’s eastern Donetsk region.
In the most recent indication that the Kremlin is determined to hold Kyiv accountable for the tragic Crocus City Hall shooting, despite the Islamic State’s denial of involvement, Russian investigators assert that they have discovered pro-Ukrainian material on the phone of one of the Moscow attack suspects.
Moscow has been accused by Ukraine and the West of attempting to take advantage of the tragedy by claiming that Kyiv was responsible for the terror assault without supplying any proof.
Human rights experts have cautioned that any remarks or admissions from the suspects should be taken with a grain of salt because graphic images and videos of their interrogations appear to show that the men were subjected to repeated torture.
Just three days prior to the strike, Russia disregarded Western warnings and charged Washington of “blackmailing” and attempting to “intimidate” Russians.
