The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, has issued a warning to the international community about Iran’s potential to transfer missiles to Russia. He has urged the development of political signals and sanctions policies to deter such a transfer.

Zelenskyy called on the US, the EU, and Iran to send the right political signals to Iran opposing Russia’s missile armament and to tighten sanctions against Iran, its state actors, and the businesses that provide Iran with parts needed to produce kamikaze drones.

He emphasized the necessity of imposing sanctions on governments and organizations that provide them with the pertinent parts, in addition to Russia.

Iran has been supplying Russia with Shahid drones, namely models 131 and 136, which are a growing portion of Iran’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) inventory. The Shahed 131 is mainly utilized for reconnaissance missions and is well-known for its surveillance capabilities.

The Shahed 136 is thought to be a more sophisticated version, capable of longer missions and performing both combat and surveillance duties. It may also have a larger range and payload capacity.
