Putin: Russian nuclear weapons ready for the Victory Day Parade

Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, pledged to keep combat-ready and strategic nuclear forces in place during his annual Victory Day speech on Thursday. He underlined that while Russia will not accept threats, it will make every effort to avert a world war.

Putin expects that amid Russian advances in Ukraine, the parade commemorating the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany in World War II will inspire patriotism.

Putin has presented the invasion and subsequent war in Ukraine as a last-ditch struggle against “Nazism.” In addition to praising his soldiers and veterans, he showcased Russia‘s military hardware during his speech. He underlined that, despite sanctions, Russia must update its armaments and employ foreign components to produce them.

Putin also stated that Russia’s military technology is being improved by engineers working nonstop. He underlined the significance of staying one step ahead of both the enemies and modern military technologies.

Former head of the Ukrainian army Valeriy Zaluzhnyi was named ambassador to the United Kingdom by President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Putin has constantly referred to the war taking place in Ukraine as an existential struggle against “Nazism,” honoring the lives of victims lost to terrorist acts and savage bombardment. He affirmed his support for all Russian servicemen and commended the courage and selflessness of those fighting on the front lines.
