China and Saudi Arabia work together to develop an AI system

  • AceGPT is being developed by the KAUST in Saudi Arabia in collaboration with China.
  • LLM is intended to serve as an AI assistant for Arabic speakers and respond to questions in Arabic.
  • AceGPT was developed using both open-source and custom data.

AceGPT, an artificial intelligence system with an emphasis on Arabic, is being developed by the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia in collaboration with two universities in China.

The large language model (LLM), which is based on Meta’s Llama 2, is intended to serve as an AI assistant for Arabic speakers and respond to questions in Arabic. The project cautions that it might not yield satisfactory results in other languages.

The model has been improved to identify potential abuse, such as improper handling of sensitive data or the creation of dangerous content. Because there aren’t any safety checks, the project also advises users to proceed with caution.

AceGPT was developed using both open-source and custom data. This change occurs as Saudi Arabia strives to lead the area in cutting-edge technology like AI.

The central bank and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority worked together on tokens and payments in July. To expedite upcoming metaverse ambitions, the Saudi government joined The Sandbox metaverse platform in February.

US regulators have cautioned AMD and Nvidia to limit exports of their advanced semiconductor chips used to develop artificial intelligence to “some” Middle Eastern nations, but they have not expressly prohibited the export of AI chips to the region.
