Due to Storm Kathleen, which moved across the nation on Saturday, flights were canceled throughout the UK and Ireland. Approximately 140 flights that were scheduled to depart from and arrive at UK airports were canceled.

Dublin Airport advised travelers to check with their carrier for any updated travel information. In Ireland, thousands of homes experienced power outages that affected about 34,000 homes, farms, and businesses.

Flights Cancelled

Electricity outages were reported nationwide by Irish electricity provider ESB Networks due to severe winds. Temporary speed limits that were imposed earlier in the day also had an impact on train and ferry services in Scotland.

To prepare for the effects of Kathleen, which include strong gusts and coastal flooding in western regions, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued 43 flood warnings and 18 regional alerts.

Vincent Fitzsimons, the agency’s flood duty manager, issued a warning, stating that the effects will begin on Saturday on the Solway coast and Firth of Clyde and spread over the course of the next few days to the eastern part of the nation.
