Gerry Turner, star of “The Golden Bachelor,” talked about some of the most memorable parts of the episode, such as how he quickly bonded with some of the women, how he felt humiliated by a limo arrival, and how Jimmy Kimmel’s aunt Concetta “Chippy” Potenza unexpectedly made an appearance.
The diversity of the women’s entrances, according to Turner, who ultimately had to send six of the competitors home, was the evening’s high point.

According to the “Bachelor” tradition, several women wanted to leave a lasting impression on Turner, so they prepared attention-grabbing limo arrivals complete with costumes, props, jokes, and stunts.
When Leslie and Turner first met, she was pushing a walker and sporting a gray wig. A 65-year-old woman named April entered with a basket of eggs and proceeded to dance about Turner while clucking.
Theresa, who is 70, introduced herself to Turner while wearing a robe and informed him that she was wearing her birthday attire because it was her birthday. Turner was greeted by Renee, 67, who was dressed as a cheerleader and gave him a pom-pom routine while Edith, 60, popped a canister of golden confetti.
Sandra, a contestant who entered the room, made Turner feel “embarrassed,” as the 75-year-old former executive assistant admitted she was “awfully nervous” and wanted to utilize a “zen practice” to help her calm down. But Sandra was one of the 16 ladies who got a rose from Turner at the end of the program.
Turner was taken aback when contestant Faith rode in on a motorcycle to the estate. Turner referred to her entry when he was explaining why he chose to subsequently present the “First Impression Rose” to the 60-year-old high school teacher. Turner also kissed Faith, April, and Theresa, giving the latter a cupcake in honor of her birthday.
Turner received a surprise visit from Kimmel’s Aunt Chippy during the program, who declared that she was “curious.” Turner deemed her cameo “very enjoyable,” and he relished the chance to speak with her.
Patty James, the mother of former “The Bachelor” candidate Matt James, was one of the six contestants rejected by Turner during the first rose ceremony. Turner acknowledged being “a little bit” surprised by his emotional reaction following the event but added that getting to know the women collectively and their composure and confidence went further than one could anticipate in such a brief period.
