  • The goal of Sri Lanka’s tourism ministry is to increase the number of visitors to the nation.

The aim of this action, according to Sri Lanka’s tourism ministry, is to draw more travelers to the nation. According to Ali Sabry, Sri Lanka’s minister of foreign affairs, the cabinet of that country has approved a proposal to give free five-month visas to visitors from seven countries: India, Indonesia, China, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Sabry states that as a pilot program, the free visa travel has started immediately and will run through March 31.

Free visas

The goal of Sri Lanka’s tourism ministry is to increase the number of visitors to the nation—five million by the end of the next few years.

Travelers should save money and time by making this move instead of applying for visas in person. At a recent Cabinet meeting, the ministry proposed to grant free tourist visas to visitors from five different nations.

Ministers of Foreign Affairs Ali Sabry, Tourism and Lands Minister Harin Fernando, Public Security Minister Tiran Alles, and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Dinesh Gunawardena jointly presented the proposal.

Shortly, the cabinet also suggested that the majority of tourist destinations use an electronic ticketing system.
