  • Anand Mahindra uploaded a picture of Siachen’s first-ever mobile tower.

The first-ever BSNL BTS (Base Transceiver Station) was set up on Thursday by the Siachen warriors in Ladakh at the forward posts of the highest battlefield. This allowed Army personnel stationed above 15,500 feet to have mobile connectivity.

The new BTS location is situated on the Army’s high-altitude station, as the Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps noted when sharing this development on X (previously Twitter).

First mobile tower

On October 6, Siachen Warriors and BSNL created the first-ever BSNL BTS in the advanced posts of the highest battlefield, enabling soldiers stationed at elevations above 15,500 feet to have mobile connectivity.

This enables soldiers serving in the coldest and highest battlefield to stay in touch with their families from their high-altitude postings.

On a microblogging platform, industrialist Anand Mahindra uploaded a picture of Siachen’s first-ever mobile tower along with admiration for the noteworthy progress.

He underlined that for the Jawans who risk their lives on the highest battleground in the world to protect us, the gadget is just as crucial as the Vikram Lander.

While some internet users expressed gratitude for the advancement, others expressed concern about the glacier’s high radiation levels.

While some people applauded the government’s efforts and the military as true heroes, others voiced worries about the safety of individuals residing in tents next to the tower.
