WSPS World Cup: Rudransh Khandelwal wins the pistol gold

At the World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) World Cup on Monday, Indian para shooters Rudransh Khandelwal and Nihal Singh took home gold and silver medals in the P4 Mixed 50m pistol SH1 division.

Rudransh, 16, set a world record in the competition by shooting a final-round score of 231.1, while Nihal came in second with 222.2. Manish Narwal, who received the Khel Ratna award and won gold at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games, had a world record that was broken by Rudransh.

After the qualification round, Nihal was in the lead with a score of 536, and Rudransh was in fifth place with a score of 529.

Francis Rubina and Rahul Jakhar were two of the four Indians that advanced to the eight-shooter final. Jakhar scored 142 points to take sixth place, while Rubina took fifth with 158.5 points.

Avani Lekhara, the paralympic gold medalist for India at the Tokyo Olympics, placed sixth with a score of 168 in the R3 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1 competition.

Avani had previously won the gold medal in the R2 10M Air Rifle SH1 division. With a score of 245.9 in the men’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event, Swaroop Unhalkar also won a gold medal earlier in the World Cup. He defeated Hungarian rival Csaba Rescsik by a margin of 0.9 points.
