Beginning its season launch in 2024, the Malaysia Open, one of the world’s oldest badminton events, is scheduled. The event, which began in 1937, has been hosted in numerous cities around Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur.

International stars of all stripes attend the tournament; the most successful shuttler in the competition’s history is Lee Chong Wei.

Among all the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour events, the Malaysia Open 2024 is a highly esteemed competition with one of the largest prize pools. USD 1.3 million (HKD 10 million) is the entire prize money pool for the Malaysia Open 2024.

The winners in the singles divisions for men and women will take home USD 91,000 and 12,700 BWF points, respectively, while the runner-ups in both divisions will take home USD 44,200 and 10,800 BWF points. A total of USD 7,150 and 7,000 BWF points will be awarded to the losing quarterfinalists in each category.

The champions in the men’s, women‘s, and mixed doubles categories will get USD 96,200 and 12,700 BWF points, respectively. The runners-up in each of the three doubles categories will get USD 45,500 and 10,800 BWF points accordingly.

The USD 18,200 and 9,000 BWF points that the losing semi-finalists in each of the three categories will get. Players ousted from the first round of the Malaysia Open 2024 across all categories and disciplines will receive USD 1,300 each along with 3,150 BWF points.

On Sunday, January 14, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s Putra Indoor Stadium (today called the Axiata Stadium), the Malaysia Open 2024 badminton event would come to an end with the finals of all categories. The BWF TV official YouTube channel will be providing live streaming of the finals for fans to watch.
