As seen by her performance of 48.74 in the 400 at the U.S. Championships last month, she still has enough left in the tank.
McLaughlin is currently healing from a small knee problem that kept her from feeling well-rested intermittently throughout the year. She intends to address the problem to be fully healthy for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Paris.
McLaughlin was supposed to compete in the 400m dash and 400m hurdles, but he withdrew from a prestigious tournament last month because of chronic knee problems.
To give McLaughlin the best chance of staying healthy and effective for the Paris Games the following year, coach Bobby Kersee decided to play the long game.
