Iran triumphs in the 2023 CAFA Nations Cup

Sardar Azmoun’s goal in the 48th minute gave Iran’s football team a 1-0 victory in the inaugural CAFA Nations Cup.

In the 90th minute, Iranian defender Hossein Kanani was issued a second yellow card. In the first round, Melli, led by Amir Ghalenoei, defeated Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan. Oman defeated Kyrgyzstan 1-0 to take home the bronze medal.

In the 48th minute at the Milliy Stadium in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Sardar Azmoun scored Iran’s goal. In the 90th minute, Iran’s Hossein Kanani received his second caution.

Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan were defeated by Team Melli, led by Amir Ghalenoei, in the first round. Oman defeated Kyrgyzstan 1-0 to take home the bronze medal.

Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) organized the 2023 CAFA Nations Cup. From June 10 to 20, the event took place in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
