Justin Trudeau declares his separation while still in office

  • Following his father’s separation in 1977, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is now the 2nd head of state.
  • He took a 10-day break with his family to give their children more attention.
  • Justin Trudeau’s predicament is similar to that of his father, Pierre Trudeau.

Following his father’s separation in 1977, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is now the second head of state to do so while in government. Given that their parents, Pierre and Margaret Trudeau, previously underwent a similar process, the Trudeau family has a history of encountering such events in the public eye.

During Pierre Trudeau’s final year as Canada’s prime minister, the couple’s relationship developed before they split up in 1977 and got divorced in 1984.

News of the separation

Since the news of the separation, the Canadian public has responded warmly and favorably, the prime minister of Canada said.

He took a 10-day break with his family to give their children more attention and to welcome the new stage of life. The three children of model and TV broadcaster Sophie Trudeau—Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien—were born in 2005.

In recent years, Sophie Trudeau has kept a smaller public profile and has frequently abstained from traveling with the prime minister on official business. The pair showed their unity by being seen together in public during Canada Day festivities in Ottawa last month.

Since they were classmates when they were young, the history of Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire’s romance begins in their early years. When they co-hosted a charity banquet in 2003, their paths once more crossed as adults.

Justin Trudeau‘s predicament is similar to that of his father, Pierre Trudeau, who also had to deal with a divorce while serving as prime minister.
