Presidential race
Ganjar Pranowo came in second with 15.3%, and Anies Baswedan, the closest opponent, came in third with 16.7%. With 45.8% and 45.6% of the vote, respectively, in two different polls conducted by Indikator Politik and Lembaga Survei Indonesia, Prabowo appeared to be maintaining his lead.
In both polls, Prabowo leads his nearest rivals by more than 20 percentage points. The first presidential debate, which will center on law, democracy, and human rights on Tuesday, will take place just weeks after the official start of the campaign.
There has been a great deal of outcry about the strengthening of dynastic and patronage politics in the third-largest democracy in the world following a ruling by the country’s constitutional court this October that allowed the president’s eldest son to run in the elections.
