BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Political Drama, Suggests Push to Install Wife as CM

  • BJP claims Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation announcement is a PR stunt linked to the excise policy case.
  • Allegations suggest Kejriwal plans to make his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, Delhi’s chief minister.
  • Kejriwal vows not to return to office without a public “certificate of honesty.”

The BJP has slammed Arvind Kejriwal’s recent announcement to resign as Delhi’s chief minister, calling it a “drama” aimed at deflecting attention from his legal troubles in the excise policy scam case.

According to BJP spokesperson Shezad Poonwalla, Kejriwal’s resignation is a strategic maneuver to appear virtuous while avoiding further scrutiny over the case.

Kejriwal’s Resignation Drama: BJP’s Accusations and AAP’s Defense

Kejriwal, however, has framed his resignation as an act of integrity, stating that he will step down in two days and will not resume office until the people of Delhi give him a “certificate of honesty.” He has also called for early elections in Delhi, signaling his intent to seek public validation amid the ongoing political and legal storm surrounding his leadership.

Moreover, the BJP alleged that Kejriwal’s ultimate goal is to install his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, as the next chief minister of Delhi, likening the scenario to a Manmohan Singh-Sonia Gandhi-like arrangement. They argue that his two-day delay in stepping down is part of a broader political strategy to manipulate power within the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

In defense, Kejriwal’s camp has portrayed the resignation as a courageous stand for honesty, with the chief minister publicly stating that he will not return to office without public endorsement of his integrity. His call for early elections underscores his desire to directly engage the public in affirming his leadership, despite the BJP’s accusations of foul play.

While the BJP remains critical of Kejriwal’s intentions, the AAP seems focused on turning this resignation into a rallying cry for greater transparency and public support. By shifting the narrative toward electoral validation, Kejriwal aims to reclaim his standing through democratic means.

Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement has sparked a political showdown, with the BJP accusing him of engineering a power shift to his wife and AAP defending the move as a bid for transparency. As Delhi braces for potential early elections, the debate continues over the true motivations behind the resignation.

“Arvind Kejriwal has done a PhD on how to make a virtue out of necessity” – BJP spokesperson Shezad Poonwalla, accusing Kejriwal of leveraging his resignation to maintain political control
