Ayodhya Temples to Embrace Metaverse for Online Darshan Experience
A Mumbai-based firm is leading an innovative project to offer virtual Darshan of Ayodhya’s temples through Metaverse technology. The initiative, set to launch by Diwali, will make 20 temples accessible online via web-based platforms and mobile apps. This effort aims to recreate the historic aspects of Ayodhya, allowing devotees worldwide to participate in Darshan from the comfort of their homes.
Rajesh Mirjankar, the company’s MD and CEO, highlighted the goal of providing virtual experiences that capture the essence of the temples. The project will include scanning temple assets to ensure a detailed and authentic online representation. The team plans to complete the full implementation within six months.
The company is also expanding its virtual Darshan services to other significant pilgrimage sites. They are working on providing similar facilities for the Vaishno Devi Shrine and have installed VR headset kiosks at key locations. This extension aims to meet the high demand for immersive spiritual experiences.
Additionally, the company has launched a ‘Divya Anubhav’ counter at Kashi Vishwanath Mandir, offering devotees a closer view of the Jyotirlinga through VR technology. This development underscores the growing trend of using digital tools to enhance religious experiences and accessibility.
The integration of Metaverse technology into spiritual practices marks a significant shift towards making religious experiences more inclusive and accessible. By leveraging virtual reality, these initiatives are set to offer a new dimension to pilgrimage, bridging the gap between tradition and modern technology.
