It’s critical to prioritize maintaining good health as summer draws near, especially about cholesterol levels. Heart disease and other major health problems can be made more likely by high cholesterol.

Some easy lifestyle modifications that can help lower cholesterol include drinking enough water, exercising outside, selecting heart-healthy meals, and reducing intake of trans and saturated fats.

Heart-Healthy Diet

Drinking water to stay hydrated promotes good cholesterol levels by aiding in the breakdown of food and eliminating pollutants. To keep your body adequately hydrated and your cholesterol levels under control, choose water over sugary drinks or sodas.

Regular outdoor exercise can help increase HDL (good) cholesterol and decrease LDL (bad) cholesterol. Examples of these exercises include walking, running, cycling, and swimming. To improve your mood and general fitness, try to get in at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity activity most days of the week.

Summertime diets should include plenty of fresh, in-season fruits and vegetables to support heart health. Select vibrant produce, such as leafy greens, tomatoes, peppers, melons, berries, and citrus fruits; also, choose meals high in omega-3 fatty acids, such as salmon, walnuts, and flaxseeds.

While enjoying summertime barbecues and outdoor get-togethers, cutting back on saturated and trans fats can also help decrease cholesterol and enhance heart health.

For general wellbeing, stress management and enough sleep are crucial. Aim for 7-9 hours of good sleep every night and use relaxation methods like yoga, meditation, or deep breathing to control your stress levels. To encourage improved sleep hygiene, set up a nightly schedule and make your bedroom comfortable.
