Major Breakthrough in Chhattisgarh: Security Forces Seize Naxalite Fake Currency Cache

  • Security forces seize fake currency and printing equipment in Sukma, Chhattisgarh.
  • Naxalites were using counterfeit notes in local markets to exploit tribal vendors.
  • Operation disrupts Naxalite funding, revealing sophisticated counterfeiting efforts.

In a significant development, security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district have seized a large cache of fake currency notes and printing equipment linked to Naxalites. This operation, which marks the first such discovery in the region, uncovered counterfeit notes in denominations of Rs 50, Rs 100, Rs 200, and Rs 500.

Alongside the fake currency, security personnel also confiscated a coloured printing machine, black and white printers, and various printing supplies, highlighting the sophistication of the Naxalites’ counterfeiting activities.

Naxalite Counterfeiting Operation Exposed in Chhattisgarh

In an unprecedented operation in Sukma, Chhattisgarh, security forces have seized a significant quantity of counterfeit currency notes linked to Naxalites, along with the sophisticated equipment used to print them. The fake notes, ranging from Rs 50 to Rs 500 denominations, were discovered in a forested area near Korajguda village, following a joint search operation by various security agencies.

The discovery of this counterfeiting operation reveals a new tactic employed by Naxalites to destabilize the local economy and exploit tribal communities. By circulating fake currency in weekly markets, Naxalites have been defrauding local vendors, many of whom are unaware of the deception. This operation underscores the ongoing challenges faced by security forces in tackling the multifaceted threats posed by Naxalites.

Investigations have shown that Naxalites began training members of their area committees in the west Bastar division to print fake currency as early as 2022. This systematic approach to counterfeiting reflects their adaptive strategies in response to financial constraints imposed by intensified anti-Naxal operations. The seizure of printing equipment and related materials signifies a crucial victory in disrupting Naxalite activities.

Besides counterfeit currency, the operation also led to the recovery of muzzle-loading guns, explosives, and Naxalite uniforms, indicating the broad scope of their illegal activities. The success of this operation highlights the effectiveness of coordinated security efforts and the importance of sustained vigilance to prevent further economic destabilization and exploitation of vulnerable communities.

This landmark operation not only disrupts the Naxalites’ counterfeiting activities but also underscores the importance of continued vigilance and coordinated efforts in combating the multifaceted threats they pose to regional security and economic stability.

“The continuous anti-Naxal operations have choked the funding chain of ultras,”
