Arrivals and departures at Chennai Airport are now fully operational

  • The Chennai Airport is now open for all arrival and departure operations after Cyclone Michaung.
  • The authority at the airport affirmed that all Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) facilities are operational.
  • there are approximately 1500 PAXS in the terminals and 21 aircraft on the ground.

The airport is now open for all arrival and departure operations after Cyclone Michaung, according to the Chennai International Airport Authority (MAA). It is anticipated that Tuesday morning will bring isolated heavy rainfall and light to moderate rainfall throughout the airport, with subsequent precipitation decreasing.

The authority at the airport affirmed that all Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) facilities, including Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance Systems, are operational.

AAI has informed airlines and other relevant parties so that they can plan their operations appropriately. The public is also made aware of this information via social media.

According to the airport authority, there are approximately 1500 PAXS (passengers carried by airlines) in the terminals and 21 aircraft on the ground.

The F&B Concessionaire has made sure that there is a sufficient amount of food available in their outlets, and the Chennai Airport Team has been instructed to make sure that the terminals are properly maintained, that traffic is managed, and that trollies and other passenger amenities are available.

Storms that pounded the southeast coast resulted in the death of at least eight people, according to Chennai Police. After Cyclone Michaung devastated Chennai and its surrounding districts, the predicted reduction in rainfall intensity offers a much-needed break.

Some Chennai locals have reported that power has been restored in those areas and that there hasn’t been any rain since Tuesday morning. The fact that train services to and from the city are still suspended, however, emphasizes how difficult it will be to fully restore normalcy in the wake of the storm.
