Union Budget 2025: Major Tax Relief & Sports Boost

  • Zero tax on income up to ₹12.75 lakh under the new tax regime.
  • ₹1.5 lakh crore allocated for interest-free loans to boost infrastructure.
  • Khelo India gets ₹1,000 crore, the highest share in the sports budget.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s eighth consecutive budget focuses on middle-class relief, economic expansion, and sports development.

The sports budget has been raised by ₹351.98 crore, reinforcing the government‘s commitment to nurturing young athletes. The increased allocation for Khelo India aims to strengthen grassroots programs and talent identification.

Budget 2025: Economic Growth & Taxpayer Benefits

The government has placed strong emphasis on investment-led growth, allocating significant funds for infrastructure and state development. The fiscal deficit is projected to decline to 4.4% by FY26, showcasing a commitment to financial stability. These measures are expected to encourage both domestic and foreign investments.

In a bid to enhance ease of business, the Jan Vishwas Bill 2.0 will decriminalize over 100 provisions, promoting a regulatory-friendly environment. This move is aimed at improving India’s investment climate and boosting entrepreneurship. The reduction of tariff rates also simplifies trade policies, making imports more predictable.

The middle-class tax relief is expected to increase disposable income, potentially driving consumer spending and market growth. By reducing income tax burdens, the government aims to provide financial flexibility to households, further stimulating economic activity.

Meanwhile, the significant boost to sports funding aligns with India’s long-term vision for global athletic excellence. Increased investments in Khelo India demonstrate a push to develop a competitive sporting ecosystem, ensuring a pipeline of world-class athletes.

Union Budget 2025 reflects a balanced approach—providing financial relief to taxpayers while ensuring fiscal prudence. The focus on infrastructure, sports, and economic liberalization underlines a vision for sustainable growth and long-term prosperity.

“A budget is more than just numbers on a page; it is an embodiment of our values.” – Barack Obama
