Box Office Buzz: Comedy Hits to Watch This April

  • Ground Zero, Phule, and Kesari Chapter 2 face off at the box office with varied results.
  • Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 confirmed without the original trio of Salman, Akshay, and Priyanka.
  • Housefull 5 teaser launches with a massive ensemble cast and a June 2025 release date.

Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero and Pratik Gandhi’s Phule both released on April 25, 2025, but had modest starts at the box office. While Ground Zero saw a slight boost on Day 5 with ₹0.71 crore, Phule lagged behind with a total of ₹1.6 crore.

Meanwhile, fans of classic Bollywood comedies received mixed news. While Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 is officially in the works, it will feature a completely new cast.

Box Office Battles and Franchise Fever: April 2025 Bollywood Highlights

The box office in the last week of April 2025 has seen a tight contest between three very different films. Ground Zero, with its patriotic action-drama appeal, is seeing a gradual uptick in performance thanks to word-of-mouth. Phule, on the other hand, caters to a niche audience with its biographical social commentary but is struggling to draw footfalls.

Kesar: Chapter 2, a sequel built around the emotional fallout of Jallianwala Bagh, continues to be the frontrunner in this clash. The courtroom-drama format seems to be resonating with a wide audience, boosted by Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan’s compelling performances.

In franchise news, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi 2 is being written without its iconic original trio. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala hopes to reinvent the film with a younger cast while preserving the essence of chaotic romance that made the original a fan favorite.

The teaser for Housefull 5 has created a frenzy online. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and set on a cruise, the film boasts one of the largest star casts in Bollywood comedy history. With a release date locked for June 6, 2025, the film is positioning itself as the ultimate summer entertainer.

From slow-burning dramas to comedy franchises gearing up for major comebacks, April 2025 marks a dynamic moment in Bollywood, blending nostalgia with new-age storytelling.

“The show must go on, no matter who’s in the spotlight.” — This quote mirrors Bollywood’s current trend of reboots and sequels, where legacy is balanced by fresh faces and evolving narratives.
