A rare event on a flight from London to Singapore resulted in the death of one passenger and the injury of thirty others owing to strong turbulence. Singapore Airlines has verified the deceased.

Flight SQ321, which was traveling to Singapore when it took off on Monday from London’s Heathrow Airport, “encountered severe turbulence” en route, according to a statement from Singapore Airlines.

Singapore Airlines

After being rerouted, the plane touched down at Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. (local time). One person died and several others were injured in a crash involving a Boeing 777-300 ER. To offer medical aid and send a crew to Bangkok for additional support, the airline is collaborating with Thai local authorities.

The pilot failed to issue a warning because the weather radar did not show turbulence, and the disaster happened while the passengers were not fastened to their seatbelts.

As a result, there may be injuries if passengers are flung around in the cockpit. This incident comes after another similar one in May of last year on an Air India trip from Delhi to Sydney, where turbulence wounded several people.
