The last five years’ international and national rankings for IIT-Delhi

One of India‘s most esteemed universities is the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi). It has constantly been listed as one of the best institutions in the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF).

It has achieved top rankings in both the engineering area and overall for the past five years. It ranks among the top institutions in the nation for management, research, and innovation. In the newly added ‘innovations’ category of NIRF this year, it came in fourth place.

IIT-Delhi’s rankings

IIT-Delhi’s NIRF Ranking for the last five years is 2 with India Rankings Engineering. Research with position 3 in 2022 and 2023, whereas 4 in 2021. In 2019 and 2020, Research doesn’t get the top 5 positionings.

In the India Rankings Management is 9 in 2019, 8 in 2020, 5 in both the years 2021 and 2023, and it is 4 in 2022.

IIT-Delhi’s NIRF Ranking for the last five years is 3 and 4 with India Rankings Overall. In the year 2023, Innovation is in the Ranking of 4. The IIT Delhi’s standing in the world is also very excellent. It is a national institution that is also well-known internationally.

The last four years’ QS World University Rankings for IIT-Delhi: In 2024 – 197, 2023 – 174, 2022 – 185, and 2021 – 193.

The “Times Higher Education (THE) World University” has been boycotted by IIT-Delhi for the past three years. It has issues with the ranking agency’s evaluation criteria.

IIT Delhi was founded in 1961 as “College of Engineering,” and subsequently under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963,” it was designated as an institution of national importance and changed its name to “Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.”

It was established as a part of the Indian government’s ambition to develop talent and know-how in science and technology.
