Turkish Pop Singer Gulsen Punished for Joking Religious Schools

A Turkish pop vocalist could have to carry out upwards of three years in jail after she was prosecuted Friday for “prompting disdain and hostility” over a joke she made about strict schools in the country.

Artist lyricist Gulsen was imprisoned last week however was delivered four days after the fact and set detained at home.

Turkish Pop Singer Gulsen’s Mistake

The charges originate from a joke the vocalist made during a show in April when she jested that one of her performers’ “corruptions” came from going to a strict school. A video of the vocalist’s remark started coursing via online entertainment as of late, with a hashtag requiring her capture.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and numerous individuals from his Islam-based controlling party are alumni of strict schools called Imam Hatip, which were initially settled to prepare imams.
