Master Builders Australia is Now Facing a Critical Labour Shortage

Master Builders Australia says the most recent information on apprenticeship and student numbers affirms the nation is confronting a basic work deficiency amidst a lodging emergency.

The President, Denita Wawn, said in the year to September 2023, 42,333 new students began in the structure and development industry – a 25% decrease on the past year time frame.

Master Builders Australia Facing Labour Shortage

The quantity of students in preparing in building and development has diminished since September 2022, when there were 124,120 disciples in preparing, to 120,881 in September 2023 (- 3%).

Over the year to September 2023, a sum of 21,814 development students finished their preparation. This addresses a sharp decrease (- 7.9%) on a year sooner.

This comes as Expert Manufacturers gauges the nation needs a portion of 1,000,000 new participants over the following three years to address the lodging emergency:

There are insufficient new contestants to the business to meet structure and development targets, including 1.2 million new homes under the Lodging Accord, or the change to net zero by 2050.
