The new organization will also have to assist the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in keeping up with the ever-changing risks that hostile nation-state actors pose.

Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, stressed the significance of including prominent AI developers on the board. He said that although AI is a revolutionary technology that can advance national interests in previously unheard-of ways, it also carries significant risks that can be reduced by implementing best practices and taking decisive action.

Nearly every significant figure in the artificial intelligence sector, including CEOs of Anthropic, IBM, Adobe, Cisco, Adam Selipsky, and Advanced Micro Devices, will be on the AI advisory board. Chief executive officer Dario Amodei will chair the group.
