  • Governor Shukla and Acharya Devvrat praise the state’s achievements.
  • Central government to expand natural farming with new farmer integration.

Himachal Pradesh is gaining international recognition for its commitment to natural farming, as highlighted during a recent conference at YS Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University.

Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla applauded the state’s efforts, noting the significant adoption of natural farming practices by local farmers.

Himachal Pradesh Sets the Standard for Sustainable Agriculture

The success of Himachal Pradesh’s natural farming model has prompted the central government to establish the ‘National Mission on Natural Farming,’ drawing inspiration from the state’s achievements. The initiative aims to connect around 36,000 new farmers to this sustainable practice in the upcoming financial year, further promoting natural farming across India. Acharya Devvrat, who has been instrumental in this movement, received commendations for his role in transforming the agricultural landscape in Himachal Pradesh.

The ‘National Mission on Natural Farming,’ inspired by Himachal Pradesh’s success, reflects the central government’s commitment to scaling up this method. The mission plans to integrate approximately 36,000 new farmers into the system and establish farmer-producer associations to support and market their products effectively. This expansion underscores the state’s pivotal role in advancing sustainable agriculture.

The conference at YS Parmar Horticulture and Forestry University also highlighted the significant contributions of Acharya Devvrat in promoting natural farming practices. His efforts have not only transformed agriculture in Himachal Pradesh but have also positioned the state as a model for sustainable farming on a national scale. The central government’s support and the establishment of new guidelines further reinforce the importance of this initiative.

Himachal Pradesh’s success in natural farming reflects a growing global trend towards sustainable agriculture. By adopting these practices, the state is setting an example for others to follow, demonstrating the potential benefits of eco-friendly farming methods. As the model gains traction, it is expected to inspire more regions to explore and implement similar approaches to agriculture.

Himachal Pradesh’s advancements in natural farming are a testament to the state’s leadership in sustainable agriculture. The ongoing support from both state and central governments highlights a collective effort to promote eco-friendly farming practices nationwide.

“The growing popularity of this system was quite evident from the fact that about 1.94 lakh farmers… were growing diverse crops naturally on 34,342 hectares of land.” — Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla
