Now Prioritise using Climate-Resilient Farming Techniques, says Witter

Franklin Witter, Jamaica’s Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Mining, has emphasized the significance of giving climate-resilient agricultural practices a top priority to guarantee food security during the hurricane season of 2023.

He highlighted Jamaica’s susceptibility due to its position and reliance on agriculture, both of which have been severely impacted by weather patterns, notably rainfall.

Climate-Resilient Farming Techniques

Jamaica must prioritize climate-resilient agricultural practices, encourage sustainable land and water management, diversify agricultural production, and spend money on cutting-edge technologies to meet these problems.

For the sake of maintaining food security and constructing a sustainable future in the face of climate change, it is also essential to strengthen the social safety net and promote international cooperation.
