Forever We Are Young: Honoring the BTS ARMY Legacy

  • New BTS documentary celebrates the fans rather than the band.
  • Directed by acclaimed filmmakers Grace Lee and Patty Ahn.
  • Limited theatrical release begins July 30, 2025, worldwide.

A new documentary, Forever We Are Young, flips the script on traditional music films by turning its lens toward BTS’ devoted global fandom, ARMY. Unlike previous BTS features that centered on the group’s dazzling performances and behind-the-scenes moments, this film brings the stories of fans into focus.

Helmed by award-winning director Grace Lee and Korean-American scholar Patty Ahn, the documentary journeys through fan experiences across continents—from dance studios in Seoul to conventions in Texas.

ARMY on the Big Screen: A Global Ode to the BTS Fandom

Forever We Are Young premiered to thunderous applause at SXSW 2025, with subsequent screenings in Copenhagen, Mexico City, Hawaii, and Los Angeles. The overwhelming fan response has set high expectations for the film’s global rollout. Trafalgar Releasing, the company behind past BTS films, is once again orchestrating the distribution, ensuring fans across continents can participate in this one-of-a-kind cinematic event.

More than just a documentary, the film explores ARMY’s activism, diversity, and global outreach. From fundraising for social causes to amplifying mental health awareness, ARMY has proven itself more than a fan club—it’s a movement. The documentary highlights how this collective has dismantled outdated stereotypes of fandom, portraying ARMY as intergenerational, multicultural, and intellectually engaged.

In select theaters, fans will be treated to BTS-branded concessions and limited-edition merchandise, adding a celebratory, immersive layer to the viewing experience. Additionally, official movie posters and collectibles will be available through the movie’s website. The interactive elements are designed to strengthen the connection between fans and their shared journey.

The film also marks a moment of anticipation: by June 25, 2025, all seven BTS members will have completed their mandatory military service, opening the door for a long-awaited group reunion. As fans eagerly await new music and performances, this documentary serves as a heartfelt thank-you to the community that sustained BTS during their time apart.

Forever We Are Young isn’t just a celebration of a fandom—it’s a powerful reminder of how community, culture, and music intertwine to create global change.

“What binds us isn’t just the music—it’s the shared belief that we are never truly alone.” — inspired by the ARMY philosophy
