Trump Wins the New Hampshire Primary Against Haley

  • Nikki Haley was defeated in the Republican primary in New Hampshire.
  • Haley was supported by 43% of registered party members, while Trump got the support of over half (54%) of them.
  • The next major race is the GOP primary in South Carolina on February 24.

Nikki Haley, Donald Trump’s lone serious opponent, was defeated in the Republican primary in New Hampshire .This comes after Trump’s historic win in Iowa. Trump has called for Haley to withdraw, but she is determined to go forward. The competition foreshadowed issues for Trump in the general election in November.

The former governor of South Carolina, Haley, claimed she might defeat President Biden in the November election because she is the anti-chaotic candidate. After winning a write-in campaign, Biden is now preparing for Trump again in the fall. The next major race is the GOP primary in South Carolina on February 24.

New Hampshire

By a wide margin, Donald Trump defeated Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire Republican presidential primary. He accused Haley of appearing as though she had won when, in reality, she had performed very poorly.

After winning a second straight state race after last week’s Iowa caucuses, Trump solidified his hold on the Republican Party. Haley “did very poorly actually,” according to him, and he accused her of acting like she had won. After almost all ballots were tallied, Haley was supported by 43% of registered party members, while Trump got the support of over half (54%) of them.

Despite her earlier insistence that she was still the greatest candidate to fight President Biden in November, Haley is now receiving more and more demands to withdraw.

Although Biden’s name was not on the ballot and the party did not recognize the outcome as legitimate, he easily won the Democratic contest in New Hampshire. Trump has long engaged in a back-and-forth with his “crooked” political opponents, spreading unverified rumors that the 2020 election was “stolen” from him. He implied Friday night that if Haley became the Republican nominee, she would be the subject of an investigation into “stuff she doesn’t want to talk about.”

The attitude of her supporters will be crucial to Haley’s chances of facing Trump in her home state of South Carolina next month, following reports that she contemplated quitting the campaign tonight but ultimately decided to continue.

Haley’s supporters, the Americans for Prosperity Action organization, connected to billionaire Charles Koch, said in a statement that she was “closing the gap” on Trump.

In a statement, President Biden expressed his belief that it is “now clear” that Trump will be the Republican nominee and cautioned that the election this year will have a significant impact on both the American economy and democracy.
