PM Modi will open the new terminal building at Tiruchirappalli airport

On his two-day tour to Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, and Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi started by launching and dedicating several development projects in Tamil Nadu worth more than Rs 19,850 crore. He cited the Tamil poetry of poet Bharathidasan, after whom the university was named, from “Puthiyathor Ulagam Seivom,” during the 38th Convocation Ceremony of Bharathidasan University.

Modi highlighted the significance of Indian scientists, inventors, musicians, and artists in bringing international honors to the nation and commended the country’s youth for building a bold new future.

Development projects

Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli International Airport is set to host the grand opening of its newly built terminal building on January 1, PM Modi. An estimated 3,500 passengers use the two-story international terminal during peak hours, out of an annual capacity of around 44 lakh.

There are 60 immigration counters for arrivals, 5 luggage cars, 44 emigration desks for departures, and 60 check-in counters in the new terminal structure. The vibrant cultural environment of Tiruchirappalli served as inspiration for the architecture of the new terminal building, which features Srirangam Temple hues as well as Kolam art prints.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi listed his numerous plans to visit the southern region of the nation, which include attending the Bharathidasan University Convocation Ceremony in Tiruchirappalli, inaugurating the airport’s new terminal building, and starting development projects valued at Rs 1150 crore.

Improved internet access, a clean water supply, renewable energy, healthcare, and other fields are all addressed by these programs.

Inaugurating in Lakshadweep are several development projects: the Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands Submarine Optical Fiber Connection (KLI – SOFC) project, which is expected to increase internet speed by a factor of 100; the first submarine optic fiber cable connection since independence; the Low-Temperature Thermal-Desalination (LTTD) plant at Kadmat; the first-ever battery-backed solar power plant at Kavaratti; and the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn)-Complex at Kavaratti, which comprises of a new administrative block and 80-man en barrack.
