Wilfred Bonse has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for the theft of more than 200 million naira, or roughly $246,153, from Patricia Technologies’ cryptocurrency wallet.

According to the allegations, Bonse worked with hackers to launder 50 million naira, or roughly $61,538.00, of the money that had been stolen. He is accused of criminal conspiracy, illegally diverting more than 200 million naira in funds, and illegally altering computer systems and network data.

Patricia Technologies, a cryptocurrency trading company, was under intense scrutiny after a hacking incident in May; however, the arrest of Bonse offers them hope. Patricia responded by converting the value of the client’s assets into its native Patricia Token (PTK) and guaranteeing future payment.

The business introduced PTK as an internal customer holding and underlined its dedication to honesty and customer trust. Patricia promised to return one Tether (USDT) token to each holder for every token she issued.

Patricia hired DLM Trust in October as an escrow agent to help with the distribution of customer repayments to allay additional customer concerns. However, Patricia and DLM’s disagreements led to the trust company’s withdrawal.

Patricia stated that they still intended to follow the repayment plan for this month despite this setback. With 99% of its population aware of cryptocurrencies, Nigeria leads the world in both perceived investment motivation and knowledge of digital assets.

70% of the 15,158 respondents, who were ages 18 to 65, from 15 different countries, said they understood the basics, worth, and workings of blockchain technology, while 99% said they were fully aware of cryptocurrencies.
