Shri Thanedar, an Indian American congressman, has announced the creation of a new Congressional caucus to represent the needs of Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Hindus.

Two dozen congressmen are supporting the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain (HBSJ) American Congressional caucus, which Thanedar announced on Thursday and will formally start on Friday.

Sikh and Jain Congressional Caucus

The caucus would offer a forum for stimulating conversation, advancing comprehension, and increasing awareness regarding the particular needs and problems of these communities.

It aspires to reduce religious prejudice and advance the rights of Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, and Hindus to practice their religions freely. Additionally, it would guarantee the fair representation and inclusion of opinions from the Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, and Jain faiths in discussions of policy.

The caucus will address cultural misunderstandings, advance interfaith understanding and concord, and support programs that advance the welfare, education, and empowerment of Americans who identify as Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, or Jain.

According to a press release, Thanedar “believes that an inclusive America is a stronger America.” A group of members of the US Congress who get together to work toward similar legislative goals is known as a caucus.
