  • In the ICC’s mid-week report, the Babar Azam-led team dropped two spots to No. 3 with 115 points.
  • Australia is now ranked first in the ODI standings, two points ahead of India (116).

As a result of Pakistan‘s removal from the Asia Cup 2023 competition, India has moved up to the second spot, passing Pakistan. On Sunday, India will play in the Asia Cup final against the co-host Sri Lanka.

In the ICC’s mid-week report, the Babar Azam-led team dropped two spots to No. 3 with 115 points after losing to Sri Lanka in a last-ball thriller for its second straight loss in the Super Four.

ICC ODI Rankings

Australia is now ranked first in the ODI standings, two points ahead of India (116), as competition for the top slot has heated up in advance of the World Cup next month.

Prior to their World Cup debuts in Chennai on October 8 and September 22 respectively, both nations are scheduled to compete against one another in a three-match ODI series in India.

Australia has risen to No. 1 after suffering back-to-back losses in South Africa, but its 111-run setback in the third One-Day International in Potchefstroom may have given India a chance.

The fourth and penultimate one-day international match between South Africa and Australia is scheduled for this Friday, and the series finale is on Sunday. On Sunday, India and co-hosts Sri Lanka will meet in the Asia Cup final.
