The projected $2.1 billion jackpot for the US Mega Millions

The estimated Mega Millions lottery prize increased to US$1.55 billion (S$2.1 billion) on Tuesday (Aug. 8), since none of the millions of Americans who participated in the multistate lottery last week had the winning ticket in the drawing on Friday.

The Mega Millions website states that if a winning ticket is found during the drawing on Tuesday, the winner will be given the option of either collecting the US$1.55 billion in 29 yearly installments or a cash lump sum of roughly US$752.2 million.

According to a news release from Mega Millions, the specific amounts won’t be known until the drawing. Nine participants successfully matched all five of the white balls in Friday’s drawing to win the second-tier prize, which was worth at least $1 million for each of them.
