After the death of a second kid, more people are requesting the flu shot

After a second youngster passed away from the influenza B strain, authorities are urging people to roll up their sleeves and get their flu shots, according to the Associated Press.

On Wednesday, an 11-year-old Sunshine Coast girl passed away from the flu. Her passing comes after the infection caused the death of a NSW student on the Central Coast on Tuesday.

The death of a second kid

According to Maria Boulton, president of the Australian Medical Association Queensland, far too many persons with severe flu are being sent to intensive care units and ending up in hospital emergency rooms.

When it comes to the proportion of individuals in Queensland who have received a flu shot, especially among younger groups, we are losing the war.

  • Authorities urge flu shots after a second youngster dies from B strain.
  • 11-year-old Sunshine Coast girl dies from flu; NSW student’s death follows.
  • Australia’s flu vaccination rates drop by 18% in 2022.

Only approximately 13% of children between the ages of five and nine in that age range have had a vaccination. We have to improve.

Australia-wide flu vaccination rates between March and July 2023 decreased by about 18% from the corresponding period in 2022.
