According to Hanna Maliar, Ukraine‘s deputy defense minister, Ukrainian forces have made “a clear advance” on the southern flank of Bakhmut in the country’s east.
Maliar stated that the positions on the northern flank had not changed in a Telegram post. Although she did not provide any additional information, the village of Klishchiivka, which is located at heights to the south of Bakhmut, has recently drawn a lot of attention.
South of Bakhmut
The commander of Ukraine’s ground forces, Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, had declared that they were “making progress” surrounding the city. Bakhmut was taken by Russian forces in May, but they are reportedly having trouble keeping it.
Maliar reported that “fierce fighting” was still going on in Melitopol and Berdyansk’s southern regions, but he added, “We are consolidating our gains in those areas.”
