The United States and South Korea have reached a consensus to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s invasion while increasing aid to Palestinian civilians trapped in Gaza by Israel’s conflict with Hamas.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke about North Korea’s increasing threat and its purported supply of weapons and military hardware to Russia to aid in its conflict with Ukraine. US and South Korea
Both nations deliberated over vague potential next steps to ratchet up the pressure on Moscow to stop transferring military technology to North Korea in defiance of numerous UN Security Council resolutions.
Russia has been receiving artillery shells and other munitions from North Korea in recent months to support its war efforts in Ukraine, and they believe that Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, may be looking to Russia for technology and other support in exchange for Russian technology to upgrade his military.
Along with criticizing North Korea’s increased missile testing in recent months, Blinken also noted what it described as simulated attacks on South Korea with tactical nuclear weapons.
He said that Beijing would not be served well by Moscow and Pyongyang aligning their armaments, and he urged China, North Korea’s principal ally and economic lifeline, to play a bigger role in pressuring the North to desist from its destabilizing actions.
