Over 100 vehicles were lost by Russia in a huge armored assault

  • Russia has lost more than 100 tanks and armored vehicles as Ukraine repels its largest military assault in months.
  • Marina Ovsyannikova is receiving medical attention in a hospital for what she perceives to be a poisoning attempt.
  • Avdiivka’s southwest and northwest communities have seen Russian advances this week.

According to reports, Russia has lost more than 100 tanks and armored vehicles as Ukraine repels its largest military assault in months. Earlier this week, Moscow began its attack on Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine with the use of airstrikes, artillery, and armor.

On the third day of the conflict, President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukrainian soldiers were holding their own, while local officials claimed that Russian attacks were unrelenting. Since the beginning of Russia’s war in 2014, Avdiivka has been on the front lines. In addition to providing Moscow with a morale boost and a symbolic win, success might drive Ukrainian soldiers away from the borders of seized Donetsk.

Armored assault

Marina Ovsyannikova, a Russian state TV journalist who was exiled and publicly criticized Vladimir Putin‘s invasion of Ukraine, is receiving medical attention in a hospital for what she perceives to be a poisoning attempt.

She unexpectedly became sick as she was leaving her Parisian apartment, and was admitted to the hospital on Thursday. The French authorities are currently inspecting her apartment and have launched an investigation.

In Russia, it is forbidden to refer to the conflict as an “invasion.” Instead, state-run media outlets are instructed to refer to it as a “special military operation.” Many have been imprisoned or fined for “discrediting” the nation’s armed forces; human rights organizations claim this is an unprecedented assault on dissent under the administration of Vladimir Putin.

As of October 12, Ukraine was said to have made progress in both frontal sectors and to be carrying out counteroffensive operations close to Bakhmut and in the western Zaporizhia Oblast.

Avdiivka’s southwest and northwest communities have seen Russian advances this week, according to geolocated footage. More forces would probably be needed to encircle Avdiivka than Russia has committed to its offensive, it continued.

Alexei Navalny’s associates said on Friday that Russian investigators had searched the residences of two people and arrested a lawyer who had represented the imprisoned opposition leader.

They said that the three attorneys were under suspicion of being members of an extremist organization and that the investigation against them was initiated by the authorities to further isolate Navalny, who is currently detained. All of the charges made against Navalny, according to him, are politically motivated and intended to intimidate him from criticizing President Vladimir Putin.
